Thomas Edwards in the parish of Llangollen on 4 March 1740 assaulted his wife, Maria, with a knife (value 6d) giving her a mortal wound in the left side of her neck 0.5" broad and 1" deep whereof she instantly died (WALES 4/47/3).  Condemned to death on Tuesday 26 August to be hanged on Monday se'nnight on the nearest common to Llangollen and as nigh the place where the fact was committed as possible: his body then to be hanged in chains there (WALES 14/1).
